The temperature in Armenia generally depends on the elevation. In the mountainous parts the cyclones coming from the Black and Mediterranean Seas create wide seasonal variations. On the Armenian Plateau the middle winter temperature is 0°C, and the middle summer temperature gets to 25°C. In Araks River valley the annual precipitations ranges from 200 mm to 250 mm, in Debed valley- 300mm. In the mountainous places the annual precipitations ranges from 800 mm to 1000 mm and in the foothills and valleys- 200 mm - 550 mm. Lori and Tavush regions are the most humid regions of RA depended on penetration of cyclonic masses. In Aparan of Aragatsotn region, Vayots Dzor of Djermuk region, in Shirak and Gegharkunik regions, in Sisian of Syunik region, in the northern and north-southern parts of Kotyak region Winter lasts 6-7 months (from the end of October to the end of April). In the other valley places such as Ararat Valley, Megri of Syunik region, Noyemberyan and Berd in Tavush, Alaverdi in Lori, Vayots Dzor in Vayk and in the southern part of Aragatsotn region Winter lasts 2 or 2.5 months(from the middle of December to the first ten days or the middle of February). In the Republic May is considered to be the most precipitous month, after it come February and October, and the driest month is July, after of which are August and December. The coldest month is January, after it February and December, the hottest month is July, after it come August and the first 20 days of September and the last 20 days of June.
